Recruiting overseas in hospitality is still an option

Hotel Solutions Partnership’s Vic Alcuaz, based in Manila, was human resources director at EDSA Shangri-La, Manila before moving to consultancy and specialising in design of mass recruitment programs and executive recruitment.

Vic explains: “In Asia demand is currently high for Chefs and Speciality Chefs, but in the Philippines currently, there is an over-supply of qualified hotel staff seeking to secure overseas positions. The appeal of better pay and benefits, the possibility of permanent residency or just the adventure and experience of working overseas post the pandemic is still a motivator.”

Vic adds: “We are working for clients to recruit here in the Philippines and can provide all recruitment processes and documentation requirements. The recruitment service is authorised and assisted by the Philippine Government Agency’s Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA). The POEA helps formulate policies and programs to ease the process of recruitment for skilled workers looking overseas for work and also protects the rights of workers leaving for jobs abroad to ensure these workers are treated well and their rights and welfare is protected by would be recruiters.”
