Mahmoud is a finance and asset management specialist with over 30 years of hospitality experience in luxury hotel chains. He worked for Thistle Hotel Group and IHG in London for 12 years before joining Le Meridien Hotel Group and spending 10 years in Syria, KSA, Dubai and Egypt. Mahmoud then went on to work for Ritz-Carlton Hotels for over 10 years in Egypt, where he successfully enhanced the financial performance of the properties. He was involved in pre-openings, carried out cost-saving activities and restructuring of finance departments, and he oversaw various development and cross-training programs. He focuses on setting up internal control activities and risk management, testing its effectiveness and provides extensive training to improve the quality of implementation. Mahmoud assisted the Marriott Internal Audit team as a “Guest Auditor” in Cairo in 2022. He is an advisor on the assessment of new projects and capital expenditure, and is fluent in Arabic and English.

Qualifications and Experience

Mahmoud has a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting. He attended Cornell University courses such as High-Performance Financial Management, Mastering the Time Value of Money, Making Capital Investment Decisions, Data Gathering and Analysis in the Hospitality Industry and Using Ratios Analysis to Evaluate Financial Performance. He also has a UK Craft Trainer Certificate.
