We provided a comprehensive pre-opening management service which included providing an experienced general manager 12 months before the hotel’s opening and supplying advice as and when needed from a group of domain specialists.

Background

Genting Hotel is located within the UK’s first integrated destination leisure complex in Birmingham, United Kingdom. It has 170 rooms, a floor of luxury suites, a spa, bar and restaurant. The anchors a complex with designer shopping boutiques, an 11-screen cinema, a Genting Super Casino, night club and a wide range of international restaurants.

Project objective

Genting, a large Malaysian company has little experience in the UK hotel industry. In the UK, they do not have a hotel team. Because the hotel’s policies have to accommodate Genting’s gaming culture, they did not want to sign a management contract with an established hotel brand but wanted to develop their own brand and operate it themselves.

Project scope

  • Reviewed all the hotel’s plans and suggested changes to allow efficient operations and provide a better guest experience.
  • Prepared detailed pre-opening timetable showing when department heads and staff need to be hired.
  • Developed sales & marketing plan including distribution, pricing and revenue management strategy.
  • Prepared the hotel’s operating budget and financial forecasts.
  • Assisted the project team in specifying and selecting all the hotel’s IT systems including property management system, network infrastructure, point-of-sale systems, customer relationship management, channel management tools, reservations etc.
  • Advised on the development of the hotel’s website and marketing collaterals.
